Take a Walk on the Wild Side!

While the experts disagree on exactly how far you should walk each day, they do agree that walking is good for almost everyone. Adding extra steps to your day can increase your fitness! Walking outdoors adds the benefit of staying in tune with nature! Check out these trail maps that show:

Go on a Family Nature Hike

Take your own hike or join a naturalist for a family-friendly hike through Havenwoods. Naturalist-led hikes are on the first Saturday of each month from 10:30 - 11:30. Check out the calendar for themes.

Become a Wisconsin Explorer

This year, kids will be “Exploring the Extremes” at Havenwoods and other parks around the state. Just stop by the education center and pick up a hot-off-the-presses Wisconsin Explorers booklet. Inside, you will find nature activities, scavenger hunts, games, hikes, and crafts that will help you and your family explore Wisconsin’s natural resources. Visit EEK! for more information.

Complete the requirements listed in the booklet, and you’ll earn a collectable state symbol patch:

  • State Insect: Honeybee (ages 3-5)
  • State Wildlife Animal: Whitetail Deer (ages 6-8)
  • State Animal: American Badger (ages 9+)

Join the Havenwoods Birding Group

Join Gordon and other birdwatchers on Wednesday mornings at 8:00. No experience is necessary. Please ask at the front desk if you need to borrow a pair of binoculars.
