Hours
Havenwoods State Forest is open daily, 6 am to 8 pm. A state park vehicle admission sticker is not required to use the park. The Environmental Awareness Center is open Monday through Friday (7:45 am to 4:30 pm) and Saturday (9 am to 2 pm).

Parking
Parking is available at the education center and next to Schoenecker County Park (a short distance away).

Milwaukee County Transit
Buses stop at the corner of Douglas Avenue and Hopkins Street, which is a short walk from the education center.

Restrooms
Accessible restrooms with infant changing tables are located in the Environmental Awareness Center.

Accessibility
The Center and some trails are accessible to all visitors. A fully accessible trail is under development.

Phone
In case of fire or other emergencies, call 911. Phones are available in the center during business hours.

Nature in the City
Visitors are encouraged to observe nature in the city. Species lists are available in the center. This state forest is a nature preserve. All animals and plants are protected. Please don't destroy or remove vegetation or wildlife.

Picnic
You are welcome to picnic anywhere in the forest. There are picnic tables in the Urban Arboretum and next to the parking lot. No fires or grills allowed. Please see information about picnic leftovers immediately below.

Carry In - Carry Out
Litter can spoil someone else's visit, so please clean up before you go. The Wisconsin State Park System has a Carry In - Carry Out policy. Please take your garbage and recyclables home.

Pets
Pets are prohibited in areas shaded on the map. Where permitted, pets must be under control with an 8' maximum leash at all times. To ensure everyone's enjoyment, visitors are required to clean up any waste left by their pets.

Hiking
Over 6 miles of trails invite hikers to explore woods, wetlands, and grasslands. Please do not hike on cross-country ski trails when they are snow covered.

Skiing
During the winter months, there are 2.5 miles of ungroomed cross-country ski trails. Special winter use maps are available when trails are snow-covered.

Snowshoeing
Snowshoers are welcome to use the trails or head out over the fields. You can borrow snowshoes when the center is open.

Biking
The limestone trails and asphalt roads are open to bicycle use. Please use extra care since these trails are shared with hikers.
×The following activities are prohibited.
Firearms
Firearms are prohibited at Havenwoods. This also includes air guns, bows, and slingshots. No person may take, catch, kill, hunt, trap, or pursue any wild animal at Havenwoods.

Vehicles
Vehicles are restricted to designated parking areas. Use of motorized recreational vehicles (e.g., ATV's, dirt bikes, snowmobiles) is prohibited at Havenwoods.
