Special plantings around the building add color and interest to the landscape while they help to educate. Visitors especially enjoy the vegetable, flower, and shrub gardens maintained by the SouthEast Wisconsin Master Gardens.

Help with the Kids' Gardening Program
Kids get their hands dirty and learn to garden in our kids' gardening program. They can always use help staying on top of the weeds! We'll provide tools and directions if you will provide time and effort. You can work in the gardens any time during the growing season. Please give a call (414) 527-0232 to set up training and work times. -
Tend a Garden
There are several demonstration gardens around the education center. After instruction, you can pull weeds in the rain garden, prune in the Urban Wildlife Demonstration Area, deadhead the Butterfly Garden, or try to control the moonflower in the Woodland Garden. See Beth for more details.

Volunteer at Havenwoods
The SouthEast Wisconsin Master Gardeners plant, weed, water, and harvest four heritage gardens at Havenwoods. They also plan, plant, and nurture the Naturalist's Backyard where visitors can see native landscaping techniques in action.
